Cactus Tacos at Costa Alegre in Echo Park.
A friend just told me about a Sage Organic Vegan Bistro in Echo Park. The food was amazing (I had the Street Tacos with chili seasoned jackfruit, onion, cilantro, lime and garlic aoli on a corn tortilla) and they have a great selection of vegan ice creams & deserts. I can’t wait to go back next week!

Chipotle BBQ at The Veggie Grill
Today marks 3 weeks as a vegan. So this morning I made vegan pancakes. I couldn’t tell the difference, they were great!
I’m at an all-day conference for work today and was able to score a veggie sandwich. Unfortunately my Baked BBQ Lays contains milk AND chicken. (WTF?!) Luckily I had dried fruit in the car.
Cuban Black Beans & Rice
So, I have been a dietary Vegan for one week. If you don’t know me this is a big deal. I will be 40 in one month and could never conceive of not eating meat. A few weeks ago my wife read an article on CNN and I decide that I would start gradually changing my diet when I returned from our Seattle vacation and I ordered Forks over Knives before we left . The easiest change was switching my daily latte to soy.
The day after we returned I had my usual (now soy) latte and an oatmeal for breakfast and then my wife surprised me with an early dinner and a vegan restaurant. After dinner I thought, well that’s one day down why go back? So I didn’t. That was last Saturday and since then I have maintained a vegan diet. I feel great, and besides a few cravings (orange chicken) I feel great.
Well, that’s all for now. But I will leave you with a question.
What are your favorite vegan recipes?
So, we just returned from a vacation in Seattle. I decided that when I returned I would become a dietary vegan. Seattle has great restaurants. (Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE meat!) But, I am overweight and almost 40 and have a beautiful wife and daughter who I want to see grow into a woman.
Before I left, I ordered Forks over Knives and planned to make a gradual change. I switched to soy milk a week ago. Anyway, today, Pam, my wife surprised me with dinner at Green Earth Vegan Cuisine in Pasadena. Great food! I had the Fajita Vegana and it was amazing.
Tomorrow we are off to Trader Joe’s to shop for the week.
